Whether you have professional experience, have acted in every school play you’ve ever had the chance to, have never gone near a stage in your life or sit comfortably anywhere in between, acting in DramSoc is for you! All you need is a touch of enthusiasm and the time to go ahead and give it a go!
There are opportunities to get involved at every level. Perhaps you’d like to take your first ever step on stage, or maybe you fancy yourself as a producer or director. Whatever you want to do, we’re the society with the opportunities and the know-how.
If you want to know more or ask any questions, drop the Acting Director an e-mail.
We’re currently holding auditions for our Autumn Main Show:
Romeo and Juliet
This classic play follows the tragedy of two star-crossed lovers forced apart by their families. However, instead of 16th century Verona, the heroes live on the south coast of Britain in the 1960s, where opposing subcultures drive them apart. Romeo and Juliet in London involves a range of incredible acting opportunities, in addition to amazing set, lights and sound.
Auditions will be held on campus on the 8-10th of October, the sign up form will be released closer to this date, both on this page and on the mailing list. More details regarding audition style and material will be emailed to you once you sign up, but you aren’t expected to memorise anything. Auditions are always fun and informal, so don’t worry if you have never auditioned for a play before; it may seem scary, but we don’t bite, promise!
- This production will take place on the week starting the 27th November 2023, and we usually rehearse twice a week.
- It will be directed by Jonah, and produced by Jack, so you will have a fab team to work with!
- Again, we need a large cast, so don’t hesitate to audition if you have ever considered acting in a DramSoc play! If you fancy a role on the backstage crew, definitely also drop an email to Jack
- Welcome Fair is Tuesday 3rd October, so drop by our stall in the Union Concert Hall, where you can also sign up for an audition.
We are really looking forward to this show, and hope you decide to be part of it! Do let us know with any questions you may have.
