Act
Whether you have professional experience, have acted in every school play you've ever had the chance to, have never gone near a stage in your life or sit comfortably anywhere in between, acting in DramSoc is for you! All you need is a touch of enthusiasm and the time to go ahead and give it a go!
There are opportunities to get involved at every level. Perhaps you'd like to take your first ever step on stage, or maybe you fancy yourself as a producer or director. Whatever you want to do, we're the society with the opportunities and the know-how.
If you want to know more or ask any questions, drop the Acting Director Mike Lewis an e-mail at acting dramsoc org.
Acting Workshops
DramSoc hosts semi-regular acting workshops in a variety of disciplines, run by theatre professionals and experienced actors. In the past, we've run workshops on improvisation, Shakespeare and have even put together small projects like radio plays and pieces for Imperial's ArtsFest. Workshops are free for DramSoc members (perhaps you'd like to join us?) and are yet to be announced for the 2011/12 academic year. To hear from us when they are, join our mailing list, our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter.
Auditions
DramSoc normally produces and performs a show per academic term, and auditions happen near the start of each term. Our auditions are very friendly and informal - there's no pressure! Our shows are open to everyone, regardless of experience. To find out more about our current projects and get involved see the shows page.
DramSoc auditions are very informal (think opposite of X-Factor) and you don't need to prepare anything. Just turn up during any of the times belowand you'll take part in a ~10 minute audition where the director will ask you to read some lines and ask you how much time you want to commit.
Remember: we're not bothered whether you have any acting experience or not, so even if you're scared that you're rubbish at acting come and audition and we'll get you involved!
